Saleens sentence reduced

The ACO, organizer of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and maker of the technical rules used by the American Le Mans Series, has reduced the penalties that were placed on the Saleen S7R prior to the Sebring 12-hour event. The restrictor size, which had been reduced by 15 percent, is now reduced only 10 percent. In addition, the amount of extra weight added to the car has been reduced from 70 kilograms to 50 kilograms. ACO representatives met with Saleen officials earlier this week to discuss the penalties, which were imposed because Saleen had not satisfied the ACO's rules for minimum production of street-legal versions of the car. Saleen is working to meet the requirements in time to have the penalties reduced again prior to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and totally removed prior to the next ALMS event at Mid-Ohio on June 30.
