The Night Session

Russell Wittenberg reports that no news is good news seems to be the story around here, most everybody is running well.

I met Calum Lockie, wonderful guy, I'm thinking you English guys are the best....then I met Didier Theys. He was so courteous he even gave me his home telephone number said call him anytime for info and comments. So now I think maybe the Belgians are the best!

The #24 Marcos has only just been completed and will get on track tonight. Lockie will drive. He says they have more speed but aren't pushing too hard yet. He loves Daytona: "If he had to pick one place to race a year, Daytona would be it."

In the #27 Crawford, Didier Theys explained that a valve spring broke in the motor yesterday. The handling is good, but they still need some top end speed. They will bring a different lower downforce nose to the race.

The #01 Bytzek fire was caused by core plug blowing out, spilling oil on the turbo, done for weekend.

The #37 Lola (fastest overall still) broke a valve in the motor and is also done for the weekend.

#80 G&W Porsche blew right rear tire coming out of NASCAR turn four, spun, no one hurt, black flag.

#32 Goldin entry; fuel problem was fuel pump, replaced and getting valuable track time at last.

The #74 Robinson Racing R&S is running fine according to Irv Hoerr. No problems, and a new 6 speed gearbox for the first time has helped with time and top speed. They are ready to run full GARRA with this car, if their new R&S ‘C’ takes time to develop.

#2 Corvette: Ron Fellows is very happy with the car. There is a little bit of a grip problem, but he is not overly concerned. He is delighted with addition of Johnny O’Connell, who fits in well and is fast.

This is the second of the Porsche Haus Racing SRPll Lolas. Among the quickest in the class, and a story to follow up at the race.

Lastly from Russell, a request to post this shot of the #09 Camaro. The X-1R guys are all looking out for it. Well done guys, not far off fastest in AGT – so far.

And finally for today, Wallace and Weaver. Favourites for the race, or does that honour go to the Risi Ferrari? Or one of the Lolas? Now if only we could tell the story of the champagne in Economy class over the Atlantic….

Now where are those night session times? Aaaah, everyone had to leave the track at 21.00. Night session times on Saturday.
