Planning For 2002 |

Francesco Tedeschi noticed that Racing-Talk Forum link readers are wondering why the Picchios are not racing in the FIA SCC this season. Francesco Di Pietrantonio, who is CEO, main shareholder and chief of the design team, explained the situation to Francesco before the recent Monza race of the Italian Prototype Championship.
It seems that in April, after having accomplished the first 2001 crash test of the car, the FIA apparently changed the crash test rules, according to Snr. Di Pietrantonio. Because of this change, Picchio needed major adjustements to the project. With the prospect of other new rules for the 2002 season, Picchio considered it too expensive to create effectively a new car to run in only few races this season. For this reason, the Picchio will reappear in the FIA SCC and in Grand-Am (probably the Rolex 24) next year.
Regarding another interesting project which Picchio is involved in, it will be made public within a month...
