Problem Solved, Car Flying In Spa Test |
Kremer haven't had a happy season so far with their K2001 Lola, but Sam Hancock sent out a strong signal that all is well with the car now, after a perfect test at Spa last week. In his first outing since the FIA SCC race at the same circuit, the 21 year-old set a best lap of 2:09.8 in the Ardennes, a time good enough for pole position for the May race. The time was recorded with the car in 'race' trim, on used tyres, in very hot conditions. Hancock was also able to maintain consistent lap times of around 2:11 in a race simulation run - this compares to the fastest race lap in May of 2:13.7secs.
"Hats-off to the team and to the Roush guys whose hard work seems to have solved all of our engine problems because the car ran faultlessly today, which enabled me to really focus on my driving. We have always felt that if the car works then we have the pace to win races - and the times today prove it. Hopefully we can continue this form at the race in Brno this wekend."
Gary Formato shares the car in the Czech Republic.
