Patricia Kiefer at the FIA explains that there's more to the Rafanelli Ferraris not appearing at the Hungaroring this weekend than just the team's budget. Patricia explains that, "the reason behind the non-participation of the Rafanelli Ferraris at Budapest is because they were asked by the FIA following the last GT commission to change their doors.
"The rules say that only parts coming from the wing section definition (see Art. 251.2.5.7) may be modified to make enlargements to accommodate larger wheels (article 257.3.6.4 & 258.3.6.2), trying to keep as much as possible the original shape of the bodywork. This means that the shape of the bonnet and doors must remain original. This is not the case for the Ferraris of Wieth Racing and Rafanelli.
"The teams asked for a delay from the FIA, which was approved, but Rafanelli started doing the changes and could not be ready on time for the event."
The Wieth Ferrari is expected to be present this weekend.
