Yesterday at Donington Park nearly saw the Peugeots on Vauxhall pace. The delight the team felt in being close to the Astras on race pace comes shining through the team members' remarks afterwards.
Dan Eaves (fourth in the Feature Race): "I have had a really good result and was pleased with my performance. It was great to finally get in amongst the Vauxhalls (above) and cause a bit of chaos. There was some good close racing this weekend and we are now only 0.5 of a second behind the Vauxhalls."
Aaron Slight: "I got a great start, led the race and was able to be the lead Peugeot, all on my first BTCC Feature race. I was pleased to see my Superbike fans trackside and I would like to thank them for their support."
Steve Soper wasn't so lucky, at least in the main race. He experienced a hard shove in the rear from Vauxhall's Phil Bennett which resulted in a broken exhaust. Mick Linford: "Steve radioed in to say that carbon monoxide was leaking through to the cock-pit so we organised a doctor to meet him from the car with oxygen. He is fine now, he just needed to clear his system. Considering the conditions he was driving in Steve did a remarkable job."
"Steve, Dan and Aaron work as a really good team. We have improved our pace and Dan had the best drive of the season so far," explained Vic Lee.
The official crowd figure was 15 400.
