With thanks to Adam DeBorre at GTC, we can confirm the length of time that two of the GTC entries spent in the pits in the 1997 and 1998 24 Hour races - plus some of the other significant cars in these two races.
1997
#41 Gulf GTC McLaren 00:32:32 (2nd overall)
#43 Schnitzer McLaren 00:38:53 (3rd overall)
#7 Joest Porsche 00:41:20 (1st overall)
#13 Courage Porsche 02:03:34 (4th overall)
1998
#40 EMKA / GTC McLaren 00:40:05 (4th overall)
#32 Nissan R391 00:49:26 (3rd overall)
#25 Porsche 911 GT1-98 01:06:07 (2nd overall)
#26 Porsche 911 GT1-98 01:10:44 (1st overall)
For comparison purposes, the #41 Gulf GTC entry had a front disc and pad change at dawn in 1997, whereas the pit-stop time of 00:32:29 for the winning Audi this year didn't include disc or pad changes as they weren't needed. The R8 did of course have a complete rear end change, so perhaps the morals of the story are that McLaren built the stronger 24 hour car, Herr Joest has matched the pit stop performance of Michael Cane's GTC (better to compare the dry race 2000 figures?), carbon brakes are better than they were four years ago, and the Audi is the most complete sports prototype / GT1 ever made.
With thanks to David Stephens for the shot of the EMKA / GTC car in Qualifying in 1998.
