There were 36 entries for the late season event in Italy, the favourites being three Riley & Scotts – two from Conrero (the SRWC cars) and a third from Gunther Blieninger’s outfit, the Rafanelli-bodied car that made such an impression in early A /ELMS events.
Lucchinis, Tampollis, Picchios, a Centenari and a Pilbeam Nissan filled out the prototype grid, with other notables being the Racing Box Viper, a 996GT3R and the two 360 Modenas of the JMB-Giesse team.
Blieninger and Luca Riccitelli dominated the event for five hours, but typical luck saw an engine failure eliminate the class of the field, leaving victory (again) to the Tampolli - Alfa driven by Lancellotti-Zardo. The Viper came in fourth, a seventh place for the second 360 Modena of Ivan Capelli giving further proof of the latent potential of the Italian N-GT car.
Blieninger is planning a mix of FIA Sports Car Championship and ELMS events in 2001. |
