Congratulations to Robin Liddell, Geoff Lister, Graeme Nash and all at NCK Motorsport for getting a race programme going and taking second place at Brands Hatch yesterday. NCK were victims of the ISC episode, but to have two cars out at Brands Hatch was a fine achievement. Getting one onto the podium was very satisfactory all round.
Liddell and Lister spent much of the weekend marvelling at the Marcos LM600 - both were new to it. "It's something else to drive," reckoned Geoff Lister. "The harder you push, the more lairy it gets." Geoff was struggling to get any air into the car behind the SC, and was trying to ease the window open to get some airflow into the car.
Robin Liddell could have done with some airflow into the car part way through his stint, once an exhaust header started to leak, perhaps the result of a fairly hard Lister-type landing at Dingle Dell. "Two laps after I passed Welz (for second) the exhaust blew. It was like putting water on the hot coals in a sauna."
Some burns on his leg added to the discomfort, but second place made it all worthwhile.
Liddell and Lister are both off to Estoril this weekend, for the ELMS race. The Scot shares the #60 PK Sport / Ricardo Porsche with Mike Youles and Piers Masarati, while Geoff Lister joins up with Magnus Wallinder to share a Seikel Porsche. "It will be just like old times - and there will only be the two of us, over 1000 KM. I can't wait." |
