Robin Liddell has featured in these pages a number of times recently, not always for racing reasons. But a fine drive to second place (with Geoff Lister) at Brands Hatch on Sunday is followed by the news that the BRDC has recognised Robin¹s undoubted ability by electing him a member of its Rising Stars programme, to promote the careers of young drivers.
"This means a great deal to me," said a proud Robin. "To be recognised by the BRDC is fabulous. It is a tremendous organisation and to be one of the drivers it feels is worth helping and who has a career in the sport is a huge boost."
He's hoping to be back in the Privilege Insurance British GT Championship later in the year, but his next race will come in the European Le Mans Series at Estoril this weekend. "This will be another tough race. It is a 1000 km qualifying race for next year's Le Mans 24 Hours and so there will be a number of competitive entries to challenge our PK Sport Porsche."
Surprisingly, the TMS archives are worfully lacking in Robin Liddell photographs - so the above shows Robin joining in the PK celebrations after Le Mans. That's Piers Masarati on our left of the Scot, and Stephen Day on our right. Top left is Mike Pickup's armpit!
