INTERNATIONAL (MANTARA ENGINE) RESCUE |
Harry and KLM make sure the Mantara gets to the grid |
|
|
With the Thunderbirds cartoon series about to be released, Harry the engine man played the role of Scott Tracey and got the Mantara rocker parts to Snetterton in time to have the car running well before midday on Sunday.
Cor Euser is not a man for a great quote, but as he quietly gets on with the job, the satisfaction when it all goes well is plain to see. Well done Euser, KLM for getting Harry to Norwich Airport, Calum Lockie for closing up the gap in the title race...and the FIA GT scrutineers for allowing the Dutch team owner to get to Snetterton on Saturday, rather than Sunday.
Well done to David Addison too for remembering that Cor's last race in Norfolk was in a Magnum in an F3 race in 1983. "I guessed," explained the commentator. Get away David, you knew that, you old anorak you. Sorry from me that the signals from the press box trying to explain the engine trouble weren't clearer. Well, how would you explain in sign language that a rocker bearing had gone which had damaged a pushrod and maybe a valve head?
Have you still got your Thunderbird models, David? Wish I did. |
