Ralf Kelleners has gone from "over the moon. The Audi R8 is simply a dream car," this afternoon to, presumably, the depths of despair, after losing his drive in the Champion Audi to Johnny Herbert (above). Herbert will make his second appearance for the team at Sears Point, partnering Andy Wallace.
Champion Racing Vice-President Don Skuta said that the team hopes to have Herbert as its co-driver with Wallace for the remaining American Le Mans Series races this season.
No official reason is available for the replacement of Kelleners with Herbert. The German was himself a replacement for Dorsey Schroeder.
The Champion Audi retired at Le Mans with clutch maladies.
