It is commonly known now that Tommy Erdos has taken over the drive in the (first) ABG Motorsport Lexus. He will make his race debut for the team at Knockhill this weekend.
July 16 at Snetterton saw a fresh start with Erdos at the wheel. "It was a very good test," explained Tommy. "We shared the track with Steve Soper in a Peugeot, and although it was my first proper run in the car, the Peugeot didn't go quicker than us all day.
"I'm very happy to be working with Alan Mugglestone, who was my race engineer when I won the Formula Renault Championship. I'm sure that in the normal process of testing, we'll adjust the springs, rollbars and dampers and have the Lexus going really well. It's great to get going properly in the BTCC."
Team Principal Tim Blake was equally happy, and relieved to observe such quick progress with Erdos behind the wheel. "It's been a source of real frustration to me that we haven't been able to put Tommy in a car before now. Roll on Knockhill."
