Joost Custers and Janos Wimpffen are set up in Spa ready to cover the Proximus 24 Hours. Joost Custers applies all that local knowledge to explain that "for the first time since 1926, a Belgian car is entered, the Gillet Streiff. This car, an evolution of the car we normally see in the Belcar, will be sponsored by the Belgian Presidency of the European Union and the Belgian Television. The engine is an 3.0 L V6 Alfa Romeo. The fastest of the three drivers is Sebastien Ugeux, ex-Belgian production championship winner.
"Another interesting car is Lamborghini #96, driven by Arnaud Van Schevensteen. Arnaud lost one leg after suffering from cancer, but has already finished the 24 hour race, in 1999."
The Rafanelli Ferrari looks likely to have Mimmo Schiattarella at the wheel, partnering Eric van de Poele and Emanuele Naspetti. |
