Mike Haines Racing are getting their season going at last - after the dramas (and non-dramas) of the ISC - with the popular and sorely missed Esprit GT cars.
"We've run up the second car, it's promising to be every bit as good as the original and since it's virtually an exact clone we would expect to replicate most of our testing and set up data. After a shake down test it will be ready to go and we're very keen to get both cars out as often as we can this season," explained Mike Haines.
He's already taken the original car to the Iberian Peninsula for the superb Spanish GT Championship, where the team finished fifth and sixth at Estoril. "We're definitely doing the Albacete, Jerez and Catalunya races with one car, but we'd like to have the second one out in Spain too."
"The Belcar organisers would love to have us out in their Championship, and we're looking at the French series and the Kumho GT Championship. If there's the demand from drivers and sponsors, we'll have them out as often as we can! We're very competitive in Spain, but we'd still love to show what the Esprit can do at home, particularly with a fair break on restrictors."
Mike Haines will look at any proposal to have his two Esprits racing for the balance of the season.
