By not racing at Spa, Lister Cars were banking on a Larbre DNF for the French team's lead Viper - which of course didn't happen, giving Bouchut and Belloc an unassailable lead in the GT Drivers Title. Their 68 points (out of a possible 80) is a massive 41 ahead of Marc Duez, 43 ahead of Vincent Vosse and 45 ahead of Jamie Campbell-Walter.
For 2002, points will be awarded at the six hour mark and at 24 hours, thereby encouraging more FIA GT teams to enter.
The acknowledged status of this event - already, after just one year - should be an additional encouragement to enter. It still costs £150 000 though, to run a top flight car.
The reliability of the field was one of the features of this year's event. |
