What Price Success |
With An Astra |
|
|
With a TOCA price cap of £125 000 for a race-ready car, leading Production teams seem to be quibbling at the asking price of £90 000 for an Astra.
Barwell, HTML, GA Janspeed and GR Motorsport have all had discussions with Triple Eight about the availability of cars for 2002. Logically, the cost of developing your own Touring Class car would be vastly more than either of these figures, so it's a simple choice of staying in the Production Class, or moving up to the Touring Class.
Tim Blake at ABG Motorsport felt that, "£90 000 is very cheap for a Touring Class car, while £60 000 is completely unrealistic. Double that wouldn't release any profit on a car." |
