A Man Possessed At Mosport |

Two cars in a team can be an advantage - but racing against two cars does pose problems sometimes, although two different tyre manufacturers can be an advantage.
Franz Konrad started the Mosport event on Goodyear wets, then made real progress once he switched to Dunlop slicks. But he became bottled up behind the lapped #4 Corvette, and then demonstrated much of that old fire that lurks within as he hounded the Kelly Collins car with his Saleen - and eventually muscled by. The Corvette was apparently given some kind of warning for holding up a car a lap ahead of it - such situations are become a habit recently in the A/E LMS.
Terry Borcheller took over the Saleen S7R for the run to the flag, but one of those misfortunes that can occur at any time hit the Ford powered GTS. Borcheller had just been lapped by the leading Audi, but Johnny O'Connell hadn't in the class leading Corvette. A Full Course Caution saw the Corvette waved by, thereby gaining nearly a lap on the Saleen. Good luck for GM, bad luck for Saleen.
"Since 1999, we haven't had a break," admitted GM's Doug Fehan. When you're leading, not chasing (a Viper - as GM were last year), the better luck is more likely to come your way. Moral of the story is get ahead and stay ahead.
The next chance for the lone Saleen to chase the 'Vettes is this weekend at Mid Ohio.
