These are exciting times at Ascari. A debut race win for the A410 in the FIASCC last weekend and a test programme underway with the new turbo V8 (BMW-based) fitted to the team’s second car.
"We completed 35 laps at Snetterton last week with no problems at all," Team Manager Ian Dawson told TMS. "We’ve now got two races in two weeks (Donington and Mondello Park) but the new car should be out again soon after we return from Ireland. We’ve got a new aero package (including new rear bodywork) on the way and at this stage, the new car’s pace is exactly where I’d expect it to be."
Better news still for Ascari fans is that the turbo car will race this year. The team are working towards an entry for Petit Le Mans for the turbo V8 A410.
And for next year? With the Judd engine proving competitive in the FIASCC and the potential for the new turbocharged V8 package to be competitive in the A/ELMS all options are open.
A debut race win, an impressive debut at Le Mans and a new package already under development for next season. Things are looking up for Ascari.
