2000 Lotus Elise Champion Adam Wilcox has had a difficult 2001 season. His career should have taken off with a Brookspeed Viper drive in the ISC. "We've found a really one good one in Adam," said Martin Braybrook, after the first and only ISC race. Wilcox settled in to his first race in a Viper (also his first GT race), and led until his pit stop, ultimately finishing second.
Next stop was the All Japan GT Championship, in which he raced a Porsche GT3-RS for Nine Ten Racing to seventh place in the event in Malaysia; Nine Ten automatically signed him up for the Suzuka 1000 Km.
That was a great success too, the Porsche winning its class in Adam's third ever GT race.
He qualified the car in second position in class, comfortably faster than his team-mates (3.8 seconds), beaten only by a twin turbo Porsche. Adam drove for around three hours in two stints, coming home 12th overall and first in the O-GT class.
"I am over the moon to win at Suzuka, it's always nice to go to another part of the world and use your ability against the best they have and come away with a positive result. I hope this will help me secure a full time drive in Japan for 2002," said Adam.
It's not difficult to see why he wants to go back to Japan.
