BMW were expected to commit to the 2002 ETCC's new 'Production-based' rules, along with Volvo and and Alfa Romeo, by September 1. But the German manufacturer pulled out at the last minute, leaving the future of the series in doubt.
Nissan have made some sort of effort to become involved, but only by homologating a car for customers. A commitment from BMW, Volvo and Alfa Romeo (to provide 18 cars for 2002) was a requirement from the FIA for the series to go ahead. |
