Depending on who you believe in the British GT paddock this weekend, the championship is either going to step up a gear next season or be on its knees.
There was certainly an air of dissatisfaction with the draft race calendar published last week, and with the lack of promotional resources for the last few races of this season.
Some teams and drivers were upbeat though.
Eclipse Motorsport have had a season of hugely varied fortune. Their Marcos Mantis GTO had been a class act amongst the Marcos GTO runners until Shane Bland’s horrific accident at Donington Park. They are back now with two cars but have bigger plans for next year.
Team Principal Chris Pollard was staying tight lipped about the detail but it was an open secret that his plans this weekend involved a fact finding trip to the USA rather than attendance at the Brands Hatch meeting (a trip scuppered by the disruption of air travel to the USA this week). Followers of the bright orange cars shouldn’t worry though, the team is on the look out for new cars rather than new horizons (for now at least).
Eclipse is a happy camp at present and plans seem afoot for a long term gameplan which might see the team emulate other British GT runners who have used experience and success in the British series to move into the international arena.
