Impressive Belcar Entry |
|
Joost Custers reports that this weekend's Belcar race will have the most impressive entry for years in the Belcar. He has already mentioned the Swedish Viper for Roos and Vander Zwaan, the British Stealth (Pudwell / Pashley), the official Vertigo (Duez / Lémeret) and the PSI 996 GT2 Biturbo of the FIA championship (Mollekens / Cohen).
But we add to that the second PSI car, a 996 GT3 for Bouvy and Kropp. This car also figured on the Zolder 24h entry list but the legal problems as mentioned in the reports at that time prevented the car racing. AD Sport also race a second top car, for the former Belcar champions Verbergt and Hemroulle. They will drive a 996 GT3. Last but not least there may also be a Venturi 600 LM driven by Frank Vancraeynest and Jean-Pierre Vanbraeckel.
Only one car is missing, the RTM Corvette Callaway of Hahn and Jacobs. Hahn will be seen on the private Vertigo of MRS Racing and Jacobs drives the brand new Volvo S60 turbo of Dumortier.
This race will be spectacular to follow and also will be very important in
the championship. In GTA, neither GLPK with Shreurs and Thiers nor AD Sport with Vanierschot and Van Roey can afford to miss a point in the race to the ttle. Both will have to combine race tactics and speed.
In GTB, three Porsches battle among themselves, but also against one BMW Z3. The RTM team with Goossens / Penders and the Beliën BMW Z3 with Cuyvers / Bruynoghe are in pure speed clearly ahead of the Russell Racing Porsche of Thiers / Thiers and the Interacing Porsche of Lambrecht / Schrauwen.
As the latest weather forecast is positive, we will have a good weekend. A number of British teams will be present for the Masters of F3 event, while the Caterhams will provide plenty of action for Spa-loving British drivers. The 125 minute Belcar race is at 11.35 on Sunday.
