Bobby Verdon-Roe replaces Tom Coronel in the #1 Lister Storm at the last two FIA GT races, at Jarama and Estoril.
“It was a difficult decision to make,” commented Laurence Pearce. “Jamie and Tom are an excellent partnership, two of the top GT drivers around – but the Storm is not in contention for the FIA Championship. Changing circumstances meant that the best decision would be to give another driver the opportunity of driving the number 1 Storm with Jamie. Bobby has been pressurizing me all year for a drive in the Storm and would like to be included in a Lister Storm team next year.”
Tom Coronel is still in Laurence’s Pearce’s plans for 2002. “I hope he will be spearheading my Le Mans project with JC-W and maybe driving an FIA Storm too. We need more drivers; Lister are taking two Prototypes to Le Mans, there will be a minimum of two FIA cars, plus two British cars and I need someone to lead the other cars. Tom’s talent is unquestionable. I now want to give other talented drivers the opportunity of a drive with Lister.”
BV-R is replaced by Steve Guglielemi in the TVR Speed 12 at this Saturday’s Privilege Finale – the Night race. “Laurence wouldn’t have offered me the drive if either he or I were still in contention for our respective Championships,” explained the man with the goatee beard. “I can’t wait to sample a modern Lister and hopefully do a good enough job to warrant inclusion in next year’s Lister driver line up.”
