The new date announcement will be made on Oct. 6 at next week's Audi presents Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta.<BR> <BR> The six-hour sports car endurance race in Malaysia will bring together drivers and teams from both the American and European Le Mans Series at the Sepang International Circuit, considered to be one of the world's most beautiful and modern auto racing facilities.<BR> <BR> "The general uncertainty of the world's political situation as a result of the events of September 11 has caused everyone involved in this event to acknowledge the circumstances we are faced with and act accordingly," said Scott Atherton, President and COO of the Panoz Motor Sports Group.<BR> <BR> "We regret having to postpone the event, but feel it is the prudent action to take," he said. "After consultation with our teams and key stakeholders and sponsors, we will determine the most suitable date and make the announcement at Petit Le Mans."<BR> <BR> Local event organizers Automobili Motorsports remain committed to bringing the stars and the cars from the American and European Le Mans Series championships to Malaysia.<BR> <BR> "In light of what has happened, we understand the situation and concerns of the foreign participants about international travel," said Automobili Motorsports Chairman, Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib.<BR> <BR> "We feel at this time that it is in the best interest of everyone to postpone the event to a new date," he said. "The organizing team at Automobili has a great many friends in the United States and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."<BR> <BR> Taib said that all tickets and hospitality facilities that had been purchased for the event would be honored on the rescheduled date.<BR> <BR> "We remain committed to bringing world-class sports car action to Malaysia," he said.
