The Privilege Night Race sees a welcome return for Ian Astley - in an equivalent machine to one he last drove, for NCK, in 1997.
The original McKellar / Hopkins plan now reads Ian Astley and Neil Cunningham, with Philip Hopkins likely to drive for NCK in Spain next month. "Ian and Neil came as a pair," explains Graham Nash.
Ian Astley is now based in Paris, where he is currently on a crash course to learn French. "I'll bunk off Friday, the last day of the course," dit Monsieur Astley.
He last drove an LM600 at Silverstone in October 1997, where he and Andy Purvis finished second in GT2, with a best lap in qualifying of 1:24.1. The game has moved on a long way since then. Astley has had only one race this year, in the Atomic Kitten Corvette (ISC) at Donington Park, while the last time he drove a car - any car - was a Peugeot 206 hire car, while on holiday. |
