Rob Schirle provides the news that his Cirtek Motorsport "have purchased a BMW M3 (six cylinder). We're giving very serious consideration to running it in the Privilege Championship next year."
The grand Cirtek plan may yet include an M3 GTR, as well.
"Even the six cylinder BMW has 30 horsepower more than the Porsche (indicating his ex-Barbour 911 GT3-R behind him), and it's the same weight. The BMW isn't so good aerodynamically, but most of the UK tracks are handling tracks," explained Schirle.
It's worth pointing out that the original six cylinder M3s were handicapped in North America because they were so successful. Schirle hopes to take advantage of the original pace of the car. He wouldn't let on which chassis he was buying, or who is selling it.
The man from Mallory has got a busy few weeks ahead. "We're running the 911 GT2 at Dijon, in the three hour endurance race, then it's both cars in the Spanish GTs at Valencia. After that, we're running the 911 GT2 for Hugh Price, John Robinson and Andre Ahrle at Estoril (FIA GT), with the drivers yet to be decided in the GT3-R. Then we're doing the last Spanish race at Barcelona, the one we won last year." |
