Martin Short is suitably happy to have his Rollcentre Tuscan R voted as TMS (Privilege) Car Of The Year.
"I am very suprised and somewhat stunned that our car has won this, especially considering the quality of the other cars in the Championship," says Martin Short. "I am sure that TVR will take this award as a pat on the back for having the courage to make a new GT car, and for it being such a rapid and competitive car from the outset, and all with their own designed engine. I am certainly very grateful for them entering GTO racing in such a positive manner."
The man doesn't waste an opportunity to publicise the Tuscan R - and why not? "£70,000 buys the base race car, £15,000 leases the engine for the year, and unless you throw nuts and bolts down the inlets, you are not likely to get another bill for engine problems for the season....and it includes a mid season rebuild....how good is that?
"Hopefully we will see some more on the grid next year."
What did happen to those six or seven we were told were coming, TVR?
Despite a trip abroad this year - to Suzuka, an outstanding success - he confirms that "we will certainly be there again, in the Privilege British GT Championship, with one goal in mind. Lessons learned, winter development on the car, Championship honours await....now who is that other driver going to be......?"
He concludes by thanking "all the guys behind www.TotalMotorSport....you have done a fantastic job with this web site, it is the Oracle for GT racing worldwide.....quite what we would do without you heaven knows....Thank you."
Thank you Martin. The 2002 Privilege GT Championship will be all the better (funnier, more exciting, faster, noisier, more appealing) for the presence of you and your team.
