BTCC suffers major blow |
Peugeot withdraw from championship |

Peugeot today announced their decision to withdraw from the British Touring Car Championship and instead concentrate on rallying for the foreseeable future.
With the signing of Richard Burns from Subaru and the introduction of a new 206 Super Cup, all available funds for motorsport have been consumed.
This will be considered a major blow for the BTCC who have still yet to announce a television deal for next years championship, though it is strongly rumoured that a new deal will be unveiled at the TOCA awards this weekend. ITV are favourites to take over the broadcasting from the BBC.
It is thought the 406 Coupes used in this years championship will be sold to a former production team, with some limited support from Peugeot on a technical side. As of yet there is no news on the future plans of VLR, who designed and ran the factory cars this year.
