Vic Lee Racing and TMS-R are in talks about a possible collaboration for next seasons British Touring Cars Championship. Following the demise of the factory Peugeot effort for next season, the two teams had discussed the possibilities of joining forces to take on the factory Vauxhalls and MG’s in 2002.
TMS-R delivered one of the Lexus touring cars to VLR for them to evaluate though no deal has been put into place beyond that according to Tim Blake. “The car has been stripped, measured and evaluated before any further work was carried out on the evolution of the car. We now have the information and data to back up the direction we wanted to take the car in and are confident that the 2002 Lexus will be a big improvement on the 2001 version. With the speed the first car had be thrown together we always knew this year’s car would be a bit of a compromise, next years will not.”
TMS-R have been working hard on finding sponsors for next season and are close to finalising a team sponsor, as for drivers Tim Blake said, “It all depends on the sponsorship brought into the team, we have a list of drivers in mind but nothing is definite.”
