New Technical Director at Reynard |
Nick Wirth goes to Reynard |
|
Nick Wirth, former Benetton F1 Grand Prix team Chief Designer, has been appointed Technical Director for Reynard Motorsport with immediate effect, replacing Gary Anderson.
Wirth comments on the announcement, “This is an exciting opportunity for me to join a highly successful company which is renowned for the excellence of its products. I’ll be joining a strong team of talented engineers and I’m looking forward to working with them on all the various projects, particularly the development of the Championship winning Reynard Champ Car.”
“I’ve recently taken an interesting and stimulating sabbatical away from motor racing, but I’ve always felt there’s been unfinished business for me in the sport – now I’m back to take on new challenges. Moving to the role of Technical Director is a natural progression from that of Chief Designer and I’ll be looking to move the department forward, building on the success that the company has consistently achieved over many years.”
Wirth will head up the Reynard Technical Department overseeing all the various programmes and focusing on the Champ Car programme, building close relationships with all Reynard’s customers in the CART Series. Prior to his position at Benetton Formula 1 team, Wirth founded Simtek Grand Prix, having started his career in motor racing with March Engineering. At Reynard Motorsport, Wirth succeeds Gary Anderson who is returning to Jordan Grand Prix.
