Bentley Boys go testing! |
Guy Smith goes back to his routes |

Whilst the men at the top of the Bentley tree contemplate running at Le Mans in 2002, the rest of the squad are getting in some much needed practice.
Briton Guy Smith will be looking for his first victory of the year this weekend when he competes in a charity kart race in Bradford on Saturday 17th November. The 27 year-old Bentley Boy heads the line-up of British drivers aiming to raise money for the Salvation Army, who were among the first on the scene at the tragic events in New York on September 11th.
“I spent a lot of time racing in the States and was always impressed by the friendship of the people I met there. This event provides a great opportunity to show our support in a practical way to those people who have, in a low profile way, helped so many. Although the race itself will be held in very informal circumstances, and is intended just to be a bit of fun for a good cause, I’ll still be going all out to secure my first win of the year!”
Guy will be joined by a number of Bentley mechanics, the team aptly named the ‘Bentley Boys’. Ben Collins, James Hanson, Charles Hollins and David Upton are among the other drivers taking part, while from outside motorsport, Ryder Cup Captain Mark James, international Yachtsman Paul Clarke and jet ski ace Lynne Baines will also be supporting the cause.
Event organiser Avid Events had intended to run the event at a London track but due to a fire were forced to rearrange the race to take place at Pole Position in Bradford. Twelve teams of 5-6 people will take part in the 3 and a half hour race, which starts at 12.15 on Saturday followed by a prize giving at 16.00. |
