Smith happy after Atlanta test |

British sportscar driver Guy Smith set a cracking pace during testing at Atlanta last week, in preparation for the Daytona 24 Hours race in February.
The 27 year-old from Hull, driving a Jim Matthews Riley & Scott, posted a time of 1m 13.1 sec following two days of shakedown testing. “That was a very productive test”, said Guy. “It was very cold just like it will be for the race at Daytona so we were able to gather a lot of information that will be useful. We made good progress over the two days, when we completed around 500 miles.”
“We’re very happy with the times set as although the car is in Grand-Am set-up we were only just over a second slower than cars in ALMS trim. That’ s a time that that would have put us 5th on the grid for the Petit Le Mans. We made a few improvements and we’re sure there’s even more to come from the car between now and race.” |
