Cadillac Turbos |
A novel turbo set up |
Alan Lis at RACE CAR ENGINEERING was sharp enough to notice that one of the Cadillacs at the Test Day in April had an unusually flat-sounding engine. In race week, all four sounded similarly flat. In the latest issue of the magazine, Alan explains that the engineers by-passed the turbos with the fourth exhaust primary on each bank of the V8 - only the front three fed the turbo(s), the fourth was directed straight into the exhaust. This set up produced an extra 15 bhp, and all four cars were so equipped for the race. |
