Derek Warwick and Roland Dane sell shareholding |
|
Following the announcement today regarding the sale of Triple Eight Race Engineering's interests to current shareholder Ian Harrison, TOCA Tour Series Director Richard West said:
"In light of the news that Derek Warwick and Roland Dane have sold their shareholdings in Triple Eight to their long-time partner Ian Harrison, I'd like to thank Derek and Roland for the immense contribution they have made to the BTCC over so many years. In handing over the reins to Ian, I know personally from my days at Williams Grand Prix Engineering that the team is in extremely good hands and I wish to assure Ian of our continued support at all times."
Dick Bennetts, Team Principal of BTC Touring team West Surrey Racing, echoing Richard West's support, commented:
"It's a shame that we won't see Roland & Derek at all the events. However they have both contributed a lot to the BTCC and built up Triple Eight to where it is today, therefore I have no hesitation whatsoever that Ian Harrison and his crew will continue to do the team proud. I understand Roland and Derek will both still act as consultants."
Mike Earle boss of Arena Motorsport, who will run a pair of Civic Type-Rs for Honda UK's re-entry into the championship this season, said:
"It is very sad that Roland and Derek have decided to leave the championship, as their efforts and involvement over the years have been hugely instrumental in the bright future that the championship now looks forward to. They are welcome guests at our hospitality any time they are at a race."
Chris Needell, Commercial Director of Barwell Motorsport added:
"Obviously it's a shame that Roland and Derek will be moving on but Ian's vast experience will undoubtedly make the transaction seamless for Triple Eight."
