In the upcoming Rolex 24 hour event at the Daytona International Speedway Dutch driver Mike Hezemans will drive for the American Viper Racing team. He will take part in the GTS class (with a Chrysler Viper) with 3 co-drivers, one of them being Simon Gregg. This event marks the 25th Anniversary of their fathers, Peter Gregg and Toine Hezemans, winning the storied event. He is very happy to get some extra mileage under his belt to be fully prepared for the season start in the European race series.
A successful drive at the Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta (2001) yielded Hezemans a 3rd place in his class, despite the underdog status of the Viper. This was reason for team owner Tom Weickardt to ask Hezemans for yet another spin at the wheel of his car. Hezemans has raced in the Viper for two years now, racing at Le Mans, in the FIA GT and other events and has a perfect knowledge of the car and its abilities.
In the up and coming season he will take part yet for another year in the FIA GT series and as it seems another championship, selected races of the ALMS calendar and if possible in the 24 hours of Le Mans. Hezemans and his team are very serious contenders for the champion title in the FIA GT and after 2 years of being runner-up he is determined to get it right this year. So for this race his expectations will be as high as ever.
