Gearing up for the Zolder 24 Hours |
|
Joost Custers reports that this weekend the Belcar Series gets to its season highlight with the 24 hours of Zolder. The teams normally run with two drivers but this time we see three drivers per car and some great names. David Saelens, Marc Goossens, Bas Leinders, Matti Alamakki and Harry Rovanperra are all entered. This race also could also decide the championship because we see double points to be scored by the winning team.
Zolder is the most demanding track for a 24 hour race with a maximum rest of 900 metres and 30 gearchanges per lap…
62 cars should make for an incident packed 24 hours.
Qualifying on Thursday saw the Cohen / Kumpen GLPK Viper fastest on a 1:36.462, with an Audi 80 second fastest, only just over two seconds slower (Matti Alamakki was one of the drivers). The Gillet Vertigo was fifth fastest, with a Ford Mondeo sixth. Bernard de Dryver's Marcos LM600 was tenth.
60 cars seem to have qualified for the race. For the full line-up, click the link above. |
