Proton feeling confident in Cheshire |
Leslie and Bennett eye up Oulton |
|
After Team PSP's encouraging debut in BTCC, the team has worked hard to prepare for Oulton Park this weekend.
At Brands Hatch over the Easter Weekend, Phil Bennett scored points in both races but David Leslie failed to finish either despite running strongly in the top five. Since then, the team has completed a satisfactory test at Thruxton and made some small but significant changes to the Petronas-backed works Proton Impians. Leslie said: "Brands was a great start for us and I'm happy that the problems that sidelined me then have been addressed. I'm looking forward to leaning on the car at Oulton."
The Thruxton test with its fast open corners was the first opportunity for the team to evaluate the high-speed handling of the car - and Leslie was impressed. He said: "The car has very good high-speed stability which gives the driver confidence - and the car is quick in a straight line as we know from early season times. This car is proving to be a strong all-round package."
Since the test the team has made some minor changes to the car, including a new master cylinder specification to improve brake balance control and a revised gearchange linkage. Phil Bennett said: "It's amazing the difference a race makes….."
