Van Diemen announce changes to 2002 race contract!
Following internal changes at Tim Sugden Motorsport (TSM), Van Diemen International have decided to place Alx Danielsson with Team JLR.
The changes also mean that Van Diemen, the world's leading Formula Ford name, has now given a contract to Alx. Ralph Firman, owner of the legendary company said,
- We are very pleased to be able to form a closer relationship with Alx. He is, without doubt, one of the strongest contenders for this years title.
As part of this agreement, Alx's car will be run by Team JLR, which is owned and run by driver Richard Dean. Team JLR's title sponsor, Panasonic, is also supporting Alx with the goal to be a leading contender for championship honours in 2002. Richard Dean, JLR team owner said,
- We have very high expectations of Alx. He impressed many people during his first season of British Formula Ford. With the close co-operation that has been announced with Van Diemen, we will now be in a position to make a big title attack with Alx!
Team JLR will field 4 cars in the British Slick 50 Championship.
Thanks to the new deal, Alx will also be testing together with Van Diemen and the works team.
- Alx will be a big asset to Van Diemen with his ability to work with the car and his out-and-out speed. He has already shown this during testing of the prototype before Christmas, said Jonathan Lewis, manager of the Van Diemen works team.
Alx commented on the new arrangement by saying,
- This is amazing! It's good to know that so many people believe in me. It is important to be realistic as the British Formula Ford championship is one of the most competitive championships in the world. But with the new deal, things are looking very promising. At the moment I am just eager to get back in the cockpit! |
