The race again showed the popularity of the Touring Car division of the Speed World Challenge series by having another large field of 47 cars in competition and it will be broadcast on the Speed Channel, the series’ title sponsor, on June 1 at 8:00 PM Eastern time.<BR> <BR> The owner of the popular Turner Motorsport team turned the fastest race lap – a new event record - of 1:35.254 (96.336 mph) en route to a second place finish. Turner pulled off an exciting move threading the needle between pole-sitter Scott Bradley and Pierre Kleinubing to lead the race into the first turn before being passed by the BMW of Ken Dobson of Carmel Valley, CA.<BR> <BR> “I don’t like to finish second,” commented Turner. “I guess if I have to, I would rather have to be to another one of the strong BMW’s in the touring car division. Ken ran a great race and I am happy to see him get his first win. I am sure that we will see a lot of each other on track this season but I hope the result will be the other way around!”<BR> <BR> The familiar blue and yellow BMW’s of the Turner Motorsport / H&R Springs team were strong all weekend. Turner himself was quickest on Thursday’s test day and teammate Frank Selldorff (#94 Turner Motorsport / H&R Springs / Fan-Vision BMW 325i) ran in third position before spinning off the course in mud left by another car. A third Turner car driven by Bobby Sak (#93 Turner Motorsport / H&R Springs / Missing Children Society of Canada BMW 325i) chased the perfect set up all weekend. Sak also competed on his dad’s Revolution Motorsports Trans-Am Series team at Mosport qualifying a strong sixth. <BR> <BR> Turner attributed much of the success of his team to a new motor package, which has been under constant development. The team has taken advantage of the long break between rounds one (Sebring, Florida) and this weekend’s round two at Mosport by participating in as many test sessions as possible, including one at Mosport just three weeks before this event.
