Berger may retreat on gearbox issues |
BMW could end sequential row |
|
|
BMW is on the verge of resolving the current row between the manufactures entered in the ETCC concerning the use of purpose built sequential gearboxes in the championship.
Up to now the regulations state that the cars have to use the original road car casing and a 5 speed manual internals which is frowned upon by the front drive congregation but BMW may now agree to the regulations changed ready for next season. Should this be the case, BMW are likely to want something in return from the rest of the entries to help keep the equilibrium through the series.
Alfa and Volvo initially suffered from constant gearbox failures due to the lack of strength in road car casings under racing conditions and claim to spent more than expect in the development of the gearboxes.
