The Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series is the premier proving ground for many of today's automobile manufacturers. The series features actual production cars with only minimal racing modifications to enhance safety and performance. Four classes of race cars compete on the track at the same time during the Grand-Am Cup event, with drivers competing for top honors in their specified class, as well as the overall win. Grand-Am Cup cars are classified by weight, engine size and model.
The Grand Sport I (GS I) class is made up high-end sports and GT car models like Corvette, Porsche 993 and Saleen Mustang, while the Grand Sport II (GS II) class includes popular sports and muscle cars, such as the BMW M3, Porsche 996, Mustang Corbra and Audi S4. Sport Touring I features various small to midsize four-door sedans and sports coupes, including the Acura Integra R, BMW Z3, Lexus IS300, Porsche Boxster and Hyundai Tiburon. Grand-Am Cup's entry-level class, Sport Touring II (ST II), includes small sedans like the Acura Integra LS, Ford Focus, Mazda Miata and Protégé.
