Doubleheader event for SCCA |
Additional race in Iowa |
|
SCCA Pro Racing® announced today that it has added a doubleheader event to the 2002 Pro Spec Racer series calendar July 13-14 at Mid America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, Iowa.
One of the newest motorsports facilities in North America, Mid America Motorplex features a 2.23-mile road course designed by world-renowned track designer Alan Wilson. The recently completed racing surface features an incredibly tyre-friendly compound that will greatly reduce tyre wear.
"This new facility not only offers race fans a view of virtually the entire track but the wide, smooth surface should produce some great racing," said Mitch Wright, SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager.
"Adding the Pro Spec Racer series to our schedule is a great opportunity for us to showcase this facility and SCCA Pro Racing to our fans," said Aaron Johnson, Mid America Motorplex Vice President and General Manager.
The weekend calendar also includes events by the Mid-American Racing Series Super Trucks and Stock Cars.
The SCCA Pro Racing Pro Spec Racer series features identical, purpose-built SCCA Spec Racer open-cockpit, closed-wheel cars. The PSR is intended to provide very tight competition at reasonable costs. Now in its ninth season of competition, the series offers up-and-coming drivers a chance to compete at a professional level on temporary street circuits, permanent road courses and ovals.
