Rob Bain quits Octagon |
Rob leaves after Ecclestone comments |
|
Rob Bain has quit from his position at the top of Octagon Motorsports following comments made by Bernie Ecclestone at the weekend concerning the Silverstone Racing Circuit. Octagon have recently invested millions of pounds on improving the access infrastructure to the famous British circuit following threats from the Formula One organisers to remove it from the racing calendar.
This year’s race had been reported as a great success following the road improvements, though it is hard to assess exactly how much better the new roads are as only 60,000 tickets were made available this year as opposed to the usual 90,000.
It is believed that Rob Bain felt deflated following the dressing down by Mr Eccelstone, who has made a habit of slating the British circuit when clearly other F1 circuits in Brazil and Belgium cannot be compared.
Before resigning Rob Bain commented on the weekend by saying, "I have had a tremendous few years and I am very proud of the Grand Prix that we staged this weekend. It is disheartening still to hear gratuitous outside comments about the event, and I do not wish them to overshadow what the team has achieved."
