Panoz Motor Sports have reported the sad news that John Baldwin passed away in his sleep on November 28. John died of heart failure while in Kershaw, South Carolina, for testing of the new LMP07.
Dave Price said today on behalf of the team: "We are all in a state of shock at the moment. John was a lovely guy and, although he'd only been with us for a relatively short time, it felt like he'd been part of Panoz for much longer.
John only took up his post as Technical Director for Panoz Motor Sports in July, but had played a vital role in the development and production of the new LMP07, while also overseeing technical developments on the LMP-1 Roadster S. He was involved in Championship successes in Indy, Formula One and other international racing categories, and was vastly experienced and very highly rated.
John Brooks described John Baldwin as one of those enterprising British individuals who are found in paddocks worldwide; he always offered a friendly greeting, he was likeable, good natured and possessed a fine sense of humour as well as an abundance of talent. The thoughts of everyone who knew him go out to Sandra Baldwin and his three daughters. |
