Pruett, who debuted a stunning new livery featuring the famed Jaguar leaper during the Motorock Miami 100, will unveil the new Jaguar four-valve, overhead-cam, fuel-injected AJ-V8 engine in race trim for the Tour’s season finale.<BR> <BR> Pruett, who claimed his third Trans-Am championship with his Miami win, debuted the new power plant during a press event last month at Putnam Park road course in Brownsburg, Ind. Rocketsports team owner Paul Gentilozzi, himself a three-time Trans-Am titlist, tested the engine during a scheduled Trans-Am practice session during the Motorock Miami 100. <BR> <BR> “Even though I just ran a few laps, I was very impressed with the way the engine ran,” said Pruett, who has eight victories and eight poles in ten starts this year. “It was very smooth, had a flat torque curve, and just wanted to keep pulling on the high end. <BR> <BR> “Personally, I’m really excited to be moving forward with a complete Jaguar package - car and engine,” explained Pruett, who won his first two Trans-Am titles in 1987 and 1994. “I enjoy being involved in the development process. It’s a different kind of experience and always challenging.” <BR> <BR> Pruett has a history of success as a development driver. He delivered Toyota its first pole position in the Champ Car World Series, and Firestone’s first victory following its return to Champ Car.<BR> <BR> “I’ve absolutely no doubt that we’ll be capable of grabbing the pole position and challenging for the win because I know I can rely on Rocketsports and Jaguar to do their part,” continued Pruett, whose career win record eclipsed that of former Jaguar driver Bob Tullius for fourth place for all-time Trans-Am victories. “As a team, we’ll have to adapt to a little different set up and various intricacies, and we’ll need to modify our gearing. But that’s the fun and challenge of a new program. We always look forward to an opportunity to adapt and learn.”<BR> <BR> Pruett, the consummate champion, still remains committed and focused. “Even though we’ve clinched the title, our game plan is the same as it’s been all season. Our focus will remain the same - to win the pole and the race. We’re not changing that now; there’s no reason to change.
