The Pacesetter Team Program will include up to 15 teams each season with qualification based on event participation, race results and future commitment.<BR> <BR> The cornerstone of the program is a half million-dollar cash incentive program that includes a $100,000 championship award and $30,000 that will be paid to each qualified team through the course of the season. Additional benefits are being developed, and the entire program will be overseen by a dedicated program coordinator who will stay in regular contact with participating teams and take care of their special needs.<BR> <BR> To qualify, a team must participate in all the events in the previous season. Of the teams that have run in all the events, the top-15 teams in point standings will be invited to participate in the program. Points will be based on overall finish position, not on class position.<BR> <BR> To maintain eligibility, teams must continue to participate in all regularly scheduled events and work with Grand American on promotional projects.<BR> <BR> “We are always looking for ways to improve the awards package available to our competitors,” Grand American President Roger Edmondson stated. “This new program is designed to identify the top teams that are regular participants in the Rolex Sports Car Series and to focus our attention on them with financial support and other unique benefits.”<BR> <BR> While the Pacesetter program will officially begin next season, Edmondson added that seven teams will be offered the $30,000 prize money and other Pacesetter privileges during the 2004 season based on their 2003 participation and results, including Bell Motorsports No. 54, Brumos Racing No. 58, Brumos Racing No. 59, G&W Motorsports No. 8, Heritage Motorsports No. 48, Marcus Motorsports No. 69 and Scuderia Ferrari of Washington No. 33. The participating teams do not have to enter the same class as the previous season.<BR> <BR> “Our fans want to know who is coming to the races and this is one way we can support the fans by supporting the teams.
