Vauxhall Retain Driver Line Up |
Muller To Defend Title |
|
VX Racing has confirmed its driver line-up for the 2004 MSA Green Flag British Touring Car Championship by retaining the services of current champion Yvan Muller, and his team mate and runner-up in 2003, James Thompson.
VX Racing is anticipating even stronger competition next year in light of the proposed rule changes and with the level of competition from with in the team, neither driver can expect an easy time.
Yvan Muller, who began his BTCC career with Vauxhall in 1999 after spells in the French, German and Italian touring car series, is delighted to remain with VX Racing saying, “BTCC is a very competitive championship which provides me with the challenge and excitement I enjoy in my racing. VX Racing offered me the chance to defend my title with them next year, which is very important to me. I look forward to racing under the new rules, but we have plenty of work to do in winter testing before then”.
James Thompson, who began his BTCC career in 1994 as the youngest BTCC driver, aged 19, will be aiming to recapture the crown he won in 2002 and lost to Muller this year. He said, “It’s good to be continuing with Vauxhall for another season. I believe it is the most professional team in the pit lane and the one that offers me the best chance of re-capturing the title crown, which is, of course, my goal next year.”
