A Belmondo Viper In 2001 |
|
Belgian Anthony Kumpen has signed to race a Paul Belmondo Racing Viper in 2001. He has excelled in his 2000 programme with the GL-PK GTS-R in the Belcar Championship, where he and his partner lost out to the team’s Porsche only after a collision in diabolical conditions at the last round at Dijon.
Kumpen was nevertheless awarded the Royal Automobile Club de Belgique’s "Young Driver of the Year" trophy at the season's awards ceremony on December 1.
”Yes I am very pleased and excited about next season,” said the 22 year old. “I really improved both in my driving and confidence this season and I am keen to get started with Paul's team next year.”
”There are some difficult entries to beat such as Carsport Holland with Mike Hezemans and David Hart, and of course the factory Listers, but the Belmondo Vipers will be on the pace. We are undertaking a lot of modifications to the chassis to bring them into line with the best specification and I believe we will not be lacking in performance and consistency.”
Kumpen’s team mates in the yellow Vipers are expected to include Paul Belmondo and Vincent Vosse, with possibles for other seats to include Marc Duez and Boris Derichebourg. |
