In venues ranging from grassroots drag strips and dirt tracks to winding road courses and high-banked super speedways, the teams and drivers from GM Racing notched championships in NASCAR, NHRA, the American Le Mans Series and British Touring Car Championship. <BR> <BR> "GM Racing has continued to show that it's a worldwide leader in motorsport competition," said Doug Duchardt, director of GM Racing. "Motorsport offers a dynamic showcase for GM products, spotlighting GM's advanced technology in design, development and manufacturing of automobiles and related services. We look forward to building on our success with more victories and championship titles in 2004."<BR> <BR> It was another banner year for the great brands that comprise GM's worldwide commitment to competition on the race track. Chevrolet captured the NASCAR Winston Cup manufacturers' championship, its 23rd in the last 31 years. GM Racing won 20 of 36 Winston Cup races with the Chevy Monte Carlo and Pontiac Grand Prix and also the manufacturers and drivers titles in the Busch series and drivers title in Craftsman Truck. <BR> <BR> As Corvette celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2003, America's sports car icon stood at the pinnacle of international endurance racing, once again winning the ALMS manufacturers', team and drivers' championships as well as staking a fourth consecutive podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. On the drag strip, Pontiac won the manufacturers' and drivers' titles in NHRA Pro Stock competition and the drivers' title in NHRA Hot Rod class while Chevrolet took home the championship in NHRA Sport Compact Pro FWD. <BR> <BR> In international competition, Chevrolet notched its sixth four-wheel crown in the demanding SCORE Baja 1000 desert race, winning overall for four-wheel vehicles and placing first in the top classes. In Australia, the works Holden Monaro race cars dominated the Bathurst 24-hour endurance race for the second year running, with both of the factory-run cars crossing the finish line some twelve laps ahead of the next closest competitor.
